Sesquicentennial Beard Contestants Start Beard Growing

Perry Brothers of the BrushThe Brothers of the Brush Beard competition is off to a great start with 15 participants.  Each contestant signed up on April 27th at Perry City Hall.  Competition has begun from now until the August 6th judging.  “We have several rookies and established beard and mustache competitors”, said Ron Leake, Perry Sesquicentennial chairman.  Each contestant received a commemorative Brothers of the Brush button for participating.  It’s not to late to sign-up for the established beard or mustache competition.  Competitors can sign-up for those categories even on the day of the contest.  Any future rookie competitors must start clean shaved and sign-up in person with Maxine Moore, beard contest chair.  For more information about the Perry Sesquicentennial visit or contact the beard contest chair at 573-565-8009.

Perry Seeking Contestants for Sesquicentennial Pageants

perry_sesquicentennial_scholarship_2The Perry Sesquicentennial is seeking contestants for the 2016 Missy Perry Sesquicentennial Scholarship Pageant.  The pageants will be held following opening ceremonies on Thursday, August 4th at 7:00 pm at Bill Trower Memorial Park.  In case of inclement weather the pageants will be held at Perry Christian Academy.  Categories include Miss Perry, Junior Miss, Young Miss and Little Mr. and Miss. Must be a Perry resident in order to be eligible, zip code 63462 or landline phone number 565.

Miss Perry will receive a $250 scholarship, Junior Miss $100 and Young Miss $75.

Brothers of the Brush Beard Contest Set
